I haven't posted for a while, and this is the reason why. My little daughter was born very premature about 4 weeks ago. Her is a pic of her tiny little foot with a Nikkor 105 macro VR lens. Terrible lighting, but managed to get away with a hand-held shot.

This little cub climbed up a tree stump to get a better look at the tourists who were trying to get a better look at him. This was taken at Skansen, the oldest outdoor museum in Europe located in Stockholm, Sweden. Sorry for the lack of updates. I will try and be more productive.

Rahlo is a talented local musician who I had the privilege of shooting today. He is looking for some promotional material for upcoming shows and albums. Hopefully I can oblige with some worthy shots. It was a good shoot with a few varied locations and I think we will have something he can use. He liked my HDR work, so this first shot is an HDR.

This is not an HDR image, just my attempt to recreate the look from within Lightroom. I think it is fairly convincing and would pass for an HDR - if you don't look too closely.

Despite the dark tone of this image, the Cincinnati Reds actually won this game against the Cubs last week. The smoke surrounding the bullpen heading across the field is from the celebratory fireworks. Taken with my trusty G9 which is now my "go anywhere" camera.

Indy Rib Fest Crowd

No this is NOT an HDR image. I promised a break from that for a while. This shot is a quick snap into the sun at the Indianapolis Ribfest while listening to Jonny Lang. It was dry and hot and the crowd had kicked up a ton of dust that diffused the light of the setting sun. Heavy post-processing done in Lightroom 2.

I swear this is the last HDR for a while. I have posted this image before, but I wanted to see what this image would look like in HDR. It is one exposure, but there is enough latitude in a RAW image to make a bracketed exposure and come up with a nice HDR that doesn't look too overdone but brings out more detail than the original. I warned you about HDR images. I don't think this one looks too bad though. Almost looks like an old-fashioned hand-tinted postcard. Regardless, it is a vast improvement on the originals. The lighting was pretty bad that evening and the D200 was washing out the sky if I exposed for the foreground. At that time I took a couple of bracketed shots with the loose plan of switching out the skies. I think this is a much more impressive result. You can do it without it being so obviously an HDR image, but I just can't help punching it up a bit. Comments welcome.
